HOW TO KEEP YOUR SKIN GLOWING AND YOUR IMMUNITY UP DURING THE COLDER SEASON

Autumn, a period of transition, is the perfect time to prepare your skin and immune system for the colder months of the year.

As temperatures turn cooler, you can use slightly richer skincare formulas - creamier cleansers and more intensive moisturisers, oils, and other treatments.

I love facial massages as you see the difference right away! My skin always looks brighter, softer, and more vibrant. I also hear this a lot from the women who are following my morning workshops and Luxury Facial Massage Tutorial.

Now is also a great time to consume a range of good oils to provide hydration from within. Use good oils of high quality and foods with omega-3 essential fatty acids. Foods rich in selenium will help address any damage from too much summer sun, as will foods containing vitamins A, C and E.

Autumn is also a time to ensure your immune system is in good working order.

Increase the intake of foods that support your immune system to fight all the colds and flu, such as garlic and ginger, as well as dosing up on echinacea and lots of warm water.

Make also sure that you exercise, move, and do your yoga practice.

Go to bed early to restore and rejuvenate. Meditate, eat well, and enjoy some extra self-care practices like facial massages and long walks in nature.

All of this will support you and make a huge difference in how you feel throughout the colder and darker months of the year.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, or so they say...

According to Ayurveda, it's true! Thanks to their anti-inflammatory qualifier.

They're full of fiber which of course helps keep things moving in the digestive system, keeping the colon clear and the skin glowing with good health while also helping you to feel fuller for longer.

Apples are also great for your skin and therefore also Superfood that works from

the inside out!

Here is why you should have an apple a day...

  • The skin of an apple contains the pigment quercetin, which acts as a powerful anti-aging compound

  • That helps to offset the damage caused by UV radiation

  • An apple contains Copper that helps the production of melanin in the body - the pigment that colors your skin and protects it from the sun

  • It also contains Vitamin C which helps both to boost the immune system - a great thing for autumn, when the flu season first appears - and brighten the complexion by helping to synthesise collagen for a more youthful complexion.

Now let’s get to my favorite light breakfast before Yoga practice in the morning.

I love this recipe as I am allergic to apples when they are raw. As they are cooked I can digest them perfectly and they make me feel warm from the inside.

If you also like to have a longer yoga practice in the morning, a walk, and/or cardio/strength training I recommend eating something warm and light before. Try this recipe, it is kids approved - my son loves it ;-)

A warm Apple Breakfast boosts your immune system and glow from the inside out!

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium apple

  • 2 whole cloves

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder

  • 1/2 tsp ginger

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • Oil of your choice

Preparation:

  1. Boil 1 cup water and the spices in a small saucepan

  2. Core the apple and cut it into pieces

  3. Add the pieces to the hot water, bring to a boil, reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 3-5 minutes, or until the apple is soft

  4. Let it cool a little, add a few drops of your favorite oil and enjoy

My Tip: You will have some sauce left. Later in the morning I add some warm water and drink it as tea.

I hope these tips are helpful to feel good and improve your health and overall well-being.

Remember, incorporate new routines and healthy lifestyle habits step by step, with ease and joy!

Your turn: What is the one new routine you can start integrating into your day to feel better? I'd love to hear how you support yourself first thing in the morning! Let me know in the comments below.

Stay healthy, keep shining and be at ease,

Jenny
