My Skin care and Make up Business goes Clean and Green!

Updated: Jan 13, 2019

Typically as a make up artist  in the beauty industry my focus was for many years only on the end result.

If you are working on set for a film or a photoshoot where an immense amount of money is included for a whole crew you just want to deliver perfection. I have chosen the most professional products that really do the job when it comes to long lasting, covering, blending and turning that person also from the outside into becoming someone else. To represent a role, sell a product or a feeling. Back in those days the clean organic make up scene was small if even existing and the products not efficient and available enough to work with and get great results.

A big YES to Weleda - city Spa, The Hague, meraki organic oils, Kama Ayurvedic Skin Care and the great variety of clean and organic, non toxic products. Available almost everywhere at organic stores or drug stores.

Luckily that has changed! It feels to me more and more that clean beauty is step by step taking over. Similar to having a better appreciation of the food we eat.

We want to eat organic, hormone and toxic free food, if possible home grown food that is not wrapped in plastic and flown in from the other side of the world and nourishes us the best possible way.

This applies also for our skin. It is the biggest organ of our body.

Our skin drinks anything in whatever we put on or depending on the air pollution around us.

If you can't eat it, don't put it on your skin.

What has changed for me over the years working with my clients when it comes to skincare and make up is that I am not looking for changing how they look. I want to highlight and celebrate their beauty. And this doesn’t just starts and ends with applying foundation and mascara. When you choose the right clean skin care and make up products ,and I am talking only about a few, you will change how you feel from the inside out.

Taking more time to clean, massage and nourish your skin, your face and body, instantly raises your feeling of worthiness. Back in your head you know by using non toxin products that you are applying only supportive and effective ingredients - like pure organic non roasted sesame oil - Yes! it can be as simple as that!

Since I have changed to complete organic skincare, especially working with oils my skin has never been better.
I have been suffering from eczema and extreme dryness for many years.

I look fresher and it leaves me with a healthy feeling.

Since over a year I am decluttering my make up products as well and happy to say that I have exchanged more than half of my make up products into green and clean.

The variety and quality is amazing and outstanding. Some companies even offer refills and try to avoid plastic packaging at all.

In my beauty sessions I want to encourage my clients with the knowledge about what they need for their skin, how to choose textures and colours so that they are able to find their way on their own buying products that meet their values, individuality and needs because I know how confusing it can be out there while all these fancy products are screaming at us!

Go green and clean with your skincare and make up products

There are many reasons to go green and clean with your skincare and make up products.

To name just a few:

  • Organic ingredients are by definition, pesticide- and GMO -free

  • The antioxidants found in natural plant ingredients are still widely considered to be the most powerful skin care ingredients

  • Synthetic ingredients may have properties to help boost your skin but some may even be toxic

Please note that scientifically created ingredients, as long as they aren’t toxic, that are aimed to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles can be a powerful combination with natural ingredients.

Best beauty skin care ingredients

  • Vitamin C

  • Vitamin E

  • Alpha Hydroxy Acids ( AHAs)

  • Green Tea

  • Peptides

  • Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)

  • Hyaluronic Acids ( HA )

  • Clay

Toxic skincare to avoid

  • Benzoyl peroxide

  • Synthetic FD&C colors and dyes

  • Propylene glycol ( PG ) and butylene glycol

  • Diethanolamine ( DEA ), monoethanolamine ( MEA ) and triethanolamine ( TEA )

Maybe it is a good moment now to go through your skin products and maybe step by step declutter and get some new clean, green and organic product to nourish yourself and radiate vibrant health and beauty.
