HOW TO LOOK FRESH AND AWAKE

Updated: Jul 9, 2020

Look fresh and awake with the help of beauty routines and beauty food.

One of the most frequently asked questions I get is how to look fresh without using too much makeup.

A huge part of having a glowing, fresh look is how the area underneath your eyes looks! Poor drainage of fluids can contribute to under-eye circles and puffiness.

You can apply a combination of powerful natural and supportive foods, daily routines, and make-up techniques when it comes to lighting up that area to have that fresh and glowing look.

The skin around the eyes is the most delicate of the body. When we are dehydrated it thins and blood vessels become prominent and creating dark circles under the eyes.

Factors that contribute to this are genetics, lack of sleep, caffeine, alcohol, and sugar.

Bags and puffiness under the eyes can mean that the circulation isn't working optimally.

It can also mean that you have a build-up of impurities due to sluggish digestion.

A healthy lifestyle, early bedtimes and mineral-rich foods help to balance fluids.

Here are some tips on how to avoid the existence of dark circles, puffiness, and bags underneath your eyes:

Nourish your skin with massage

Massages are incredibly beneficial for detoxification. They help move fluids, enhance circulation and support your lymphatic system. They nourish your healthy, glowing skin from the inside out.

Practice daily self-massage, using your hands, a facial roller, or Gua Sha to stimulate your skin and lymph flow.

Develop a daily facial routine. Practice Self-massage using an oil - like Almond oil

  • A completely natural ingredient that benefits skin around your eyes, almond oil helps lighten dark circles.

  • Apply every evening underneath the eyes and massage gently. Leave it overnight and wash it off with cold water in the morning.

Apply Pure Organic Rosewater

  • Rosewater rejuvenates your skin and reduces dark circles. It also has a soothing effect on tired eyes.

  • Soak cotton eye pads in rose water for a few minutes and place the soaked pads on your closed eyelids.

Cucumber - SOS TIP

With skin-lightening and mild astringent properties, cucumbers are completely equipped to lighten up the under-eye area. They are refreshing and soothing as well.

  • Cut the cucumber in slices and let them rest for 30 minutes.

  • Place the slices under the eyes for about 10 minutes. Repeat twice a day for one week to see the results.

The colors under your eyes might be

a) blueish/ violet - a bit like bruises

or

b) warmer tones - a color wheel might be helpful here

Depending on your color you want to choose the right corrector and/or concealer:

  1. Use the color that is complementary to the one under the eye. For example, if you have dark areas in a cool blue tone you go for a corrector/concealer that is pinkish/peach.

  2. Apply just a small amount of product and pat it in

  3. Take a step back and have a look. Do you need a bit more coverage? Only then apply another thin layer of product.

  4. Finish with a tiny amount of neutral fine powder to make it last the whole day.

Lifestyle tips to look fresh and awake

  • Increase your sleep and rest

  • Make sure you rest enough on your moon and menstrual days

  • Hydrate your body to support your kidneys function.

  • Cut down on alcohol and caffeine, which can leach minerals from your system
